The Town of St. Marys is known by the nickname “Stonetown” due to the abundance of limestone in the area and the large number of limestone buildings and homes throughout town, including churches, a beautiful museum, and a stunning opera house.
A walk through the historic streets of St. Marys offers a first-hand look at the unique limestone architecture, bustling downtown core, picturesque bridges and waterways, and vibrant green spaces. The town is also home to Canada’s largest outdoor freshwater swimming pool (The Quarry), the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the Stonetown Heritage Festival, the Grand Trunk Trail, and the WinterLights festival – making it the perfect year-’round escape.
